Samsung has said that it wants to develop smartphones and other devices with foldable screens within the next two years.

Chief executive officer Kwon Oh Hyun made the claim at an analysts event on Wednesday evening.
During a presentation, he talked about a slide revealing Samsung’s roadmap for its display technology. On the slide was information about its plans to develop foldable devices.
Kwon said that the company had already achieved its first milestone with the successful integration of a curved screen into a smartphone. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Round last month.

Details of the slide and talk were published by blog site Sammy Hub. The slide shows how Samsung expects to progress to foldable phones.
The next technology on Samsung’s list is bendable displays. According to experts, the first devices with these screens should begin arriving next year.
Foldable screen-based devices should arrive shortly afterwards, around the end of 2015.
Display technology rival LG is also likely to be working on foldable screens. It also recently unveiled its own phone with a curved screen.
The Korean company has not publicly stated it is working on such technology. However, it is widely expected to follow Samsung’s announcement with its own.
